180019002000James Lister opened an ironmonger shop in Tipton, West Midlands1874since 1874Other shops were acquired or opened across the MidlandsLate 1800sThe business shifted towards supplying industrial customersEarly 1900sThe company now also manufactured some products, with its own sheet metal worksMid 1900sJames Lister and Sons Limited was incorporated as a legal entity1957The Fluid Power divisionpneumatics to the industrial customer base1980sThe company now comprised 2 main divisions – Industrial Supplies and Fluid Power, but also supplied bottled and bulk gas and manufactures racing car pistons, touring car airjacks and ultra-high-pressure valves.Late 1900sThere were 14 distribution and manufacturing sites primarily based in the West Midlands, but also covering the South of England and South Wales, later consolidated down to 6Early 2000sThe gas and car piston divisions were divested, and the business ownership consolidated into the hands of Richard, Tim and Mike Cotterill, great great grandsons of the founder, and Peter Davies who joined as Chief Executive2010Listertube was created, as a third division of James Lister and Sons Limited, based in Aldridge, initially to provide rigid tube expanding into serving all industries2011Listertube moved into part of a 12,000 sq ft facility in Redditch, co-located with other Lister divisions, but providing future expansion capability for the rapidly growing business2012ISO quality management (9001), environment (14001) and health and safety standards (18001 now 45001)Tubetechs assets and customer base were acquired and activities relocated from Letchworth to Redditch, further expanding Listertubes portfolio2015In addition, this year, Listertube took delivery of a 50mm diameter double stack bending machine with the capability to combine draw/mandrel bending with push/roll bendingFurther expanding the capacity to meet complex customer requirements, a 25mm diameter left hand/right hand CNC bending machine was purchased, bringing the stable of CNC bending machines to 9, ranging from 4mm to 76mm diameter tube bending capability2019As a result of continual expansion, other Lister activities were rehoused and Listertube took over sole occupation of the Redditch site2020With support from WMG through the Made Smarter program, Listertube developed the innovative capability to 3D print bend forming tooling for up to 35mm diameter tube, for certain applications, dramatically reducing tooling lead-times and cost2021The factory production operations and layout were completely restructured to , coupled with enhanced routing and scheduling solutions, building on the new ERP system implemented the previous year, in order to support further business expansion to meet the ongoing 20% per annum growth rate2022
